'It's like they never miss a pass': Swansea's Galbraith continues battle with City.

Ethan Galbraith can't help but smile as he reminisces about the thrilling final moments of his team's remarkable turnaround triumph against Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup. The encounter wrapped up with Galbraith picking up a supporter's spectacles following the pitch-side pile-on.

With the clock ticking into the 97th minute, Galbraith struck the post with a speculative effort from 25 yards, and Cameron Burgess promptly hammered in the rebound before racing off toward the home end to mark the goal, with the crowd swarming the players.

Remarkable Recovery

This sealed an incredible turnaround given the team had trailed 2-0 deep into the second half. In the celebrations, there was some unintended consequences. The midfielder recalled, "There was a spectator shouting out and we were wondering: 'What's he on about here?' Then we noticed the glasses. It was a funny incident putting them on. We are on the pitch as athletes but we're humans, too, so to have a bit of craic with the fans is always good."

Premier League Giants

The victory earned a upcoming fixture at home against Pep Guardiola's side on Wednesday, a team Galbraith pushed hard at the same stage of the FA Cup with the London side in February. The athletic midfielder had a prime vantage point when his former team took the lead in remarkable manner, with a teammate's long-range effort from about 45 yards going in via the bar and the Stefan Ortega. It feels criminal that it was deemed an own goal.

"You would have expected they would've given it to him for attempting the shot from that distance," commented Galbraith, who began the game centrally before switching to right wing-back after the team changed tactics. That meant facing off against City's winger, with whom he exchanged jerseys, and the winger was among the opposition who paid tribute to the way his former team played positively.

Guardiola's System

"Athletically they are outstanding but even the basics and simple things, they can just execute repeatedly," he explains. "It seems as if they complete every delivery and they know how to control and neutralize a game. You can think you're all right and then suddenly they will just deliver a through ball past your midfield without you even spotting it. You have to be switched on throughout of the game. It takes a tough attitude and concentration just to keep pace."

New Chapter

The Welsh side were keen on Galbraith in January and beat off competition to bring him in in the summer in a significant move. He established himself as a crowd pleaser across multiple campaigns at his former club and has quickly done the same in his new home. At the London club he linked up again with the coach, who previously gave Galbraith his debut prolonged spell in senior football on loan at Doncaster from Manchester United. Then came a temporary move at League Two the Manchester club, before he departed his boyhood club.

Development Path

"I was probably a somewhat inexperienced going into senior level. I think a lot of players would say under-23s football is completely distinct. Sometimes it appears possession is exchanged without real physicality. There are limited physical contests. Once you start playing professional matches you have to adapt rapidly."

National Team Success

His progress reflects that growth for club and country, performing well for the Green and White Army, who remain in contention for the World Cup next summer via the qualifying rounds and for whom he has featured in the last several matches, including home and away fixtures against a football powerhouse. The ex-coach, Galbraith's ex- international manager, paid him the highest praise, saying he was Northern Ireland's "midfield general" given how he controls possession and his knack for a game-changing assist.

Starting Out

It has been an incredible journey for the player from the neighborhood in the Belfast suburb, just outside Belfast, who was raised observing his parent, Stuart, also a engine room operator, play for Ballyclare Comrades.

Old Trafford Memory

Galbraith's single match for United came in Central Asia in 2019, a Europa League trip to Astana, where they featured on an plastic turf and the venue ceiling was closed owing to temperatures of bitter cold. "This represented a long trip and it was chilly," he comments, grinning. "The days leading up, myself and quite a few of the young lads trained together, so that helped us acclimatise. Just to travel with the first team and make an appearance at the end was amazing."

Departing Old Trafford

What was the challenge was it to move on from Old Trafford, the club he transferred from aged his mid-teens? "It was fairly simple, because I arrived at the moment where I knew I wasn't going to make it at first-team level. I'm extremely thankful for the years at the club but it became apparent where I believed I required a fresh start, move to a lower level and play first-team games. Now I'm gradually progressing again."

Life in Swansea

It is the middle of the day at the team's practice facility but Galbraith has a commitment at late afternoon: a road rules assessment, another progress toward getting on the road. Prior to relocating to Sketty, the 24-year-old was a regular in Swansea's dubbed player transport, a small coach driven by club employees, Pete and Howard, which ferries players to and from training and matches.

"It's myself a teammate, another squad member, Malick Yalcouyé – Melker Widell used to be in it but has started driving. It's nice to spend time with the teammates but I'm planning to be the following person to drive independently and on the road. The Portuguese player enjoys practical jokes; he's constantly causing mischief."

Fan Interactions

When he represented Leyton Orient, Galbraith would travel alongside fans on public transport after commuting at the area he lived in. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
