Area Law Enforcement
Approximately fifty automobiles have been smeared with what appears to be blood from a person in the Germany's municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by authorities.
Cars, building surfaces and postal boxes were marked, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they reported in a release.
Law enforcement state they were alerted during the night on Wednesday, when a individual observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been covered with a red-colored liquid.
The liquid had been drawn in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they stated.
Police then found many other smeared cars and residential walls in the surrounding area.
Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under legislation outlawing the public exhibition of Nazi-era symbols.
Law enforcement report preliminary tests suggest the fluid was probably blood from a person.
"At present there remains no clue as to its source; investigators are currently not aware of any injuries in relation with the incident," they added.
Municipal representatives said they were trying "to resolve the case" and have requested to the community for tips.
An important official commented the attack rendered him speechless and had to be solved promptly.
"This incident hits the center of Hanau and reopens the pain of the far-right terrorist attack half a decade ago," he posted on online, recalling the death of nine victims by a gunman targeting people of foreign heritage in February 2020.
